I find dragonflies very tough to photograph, but you have mastered it here with this image. I think the blurred background is great and allows the viewer's attention to go to your subject. The lovely wings are sharp and the detail shows beautifully. I also think the soft light is ideal. I'd like to know what lens you used, focal length, f-stop, shutter speed, ISO etc if you care to share. I'm inspired to get out and try dragonfly shots of my own

Thanks Heather for your kind words. Details were as follows: Lens: Sigma 105/2.8 Macro; Shutter speed 1/160; Aperture 4.5; ISO 100; Tripod; manual focus. Levels & sharpness adjusted in GIMP. This is a four-spotted skimmer, I find them easy to approach compared with most other dragonfly species.
