I find dragonflies very tough to photograph, but you have mastered it here with this image. I think the blurred background is great and allows the viewer's attention to go to your subject. The lovely wings are sharp and the detail shows beautifully. I also think the soft light is ideal. I'd like to know what lens you used, focal length, f-stop, shutter speed, ISO etc if you care to share. I'm inspired to get out and try dragonfly shots of my own #939469John Dawkins June 10, 2008

Congratulations on this lovely shot John. Not an easy subject to shoot, and yet it is beautifully sharp, and stands out so nicely from the background. This may be a silly question, but please could you tell me what is GIMP? #6217272John Dawkins July 22, 2008
Thanks Erica, Kristy, Heather, Kay and Vickie. Vickie, GIMP is a photo editing program that can do many things that photoshop can (i.e. layers), with the benefit that it is free. #6218790Elida Gutierrez July 22, 2008
