They sure do get puffed up to keep warm! Great shot Judy....want to come down as soon as I can, got to go to Huntsville today to take my honey to a back doctor...will call you as soon as I can! Bet they love you, no telling how much bird feed you put out this month! Whew! You are a kind hearted lady!

It's been a cold winter for the birds, Judy, and you've captured this cardinal beautifully trying to stay warm using his feathers to capture all the insulation he could muster.

The Cockatiel (Nymphicus hollandicus), which I've been feeding this year came back to my feeders today. It was a miracle to have seen him alive after many 32 degree to 11 degree mornings this winter. He must have some place to go to stay warm, otherwise he could not survive.

It's worth the small fortune I've spent bird seed, as they give me so much pleasure and hope.
