Desert Bloom
Uploaded: February 16, 2003
These Brown-Eyed Susans were growing at the edge of the Little Sahara Sand Dunes in western Utah. The plants further up in the sand seamed fairly stunted compaired to the ones in the dirt at the edges of the park. After the previous day of photographing various sand formations I found this single bloom on the edge of one of the small sand dunes. I used a 19mm lens to make it look like a vast expanse of sand with the lens approx a foot from the flower.

Its been pretty miserable here in South Dakota as well Kelly, but today is sunny and possibly getting up in the mid 40's so I'm heading out right after the daytona for some scenics and possibly a sunset. Not quite the kind of weather your hoping for, but a good break for us! #53920Carolyn M. Fletcher May 26, 2019

Thanks for everyones comments. Barb, I only got to spend one evening and the following morning exploring the place, and for the most part dune buggies and motorcycles had everything tore up, but the area's that were off limits to them were pretty nice. I did get some good action shots of the riders on the big stuff though. Neat place.Cory #62163

Hi Cory, If you are in the area you may want to visit Coral Pink Sand Dunes. It is on the east side of Zion Park heading towards Kanab, UT. Lots of Dunes and low traffic during the week.Barb B. #63199
