Proud Daddy

Description

This year we must have 30 baby quails in the yard. They live in communities, with all of the fathers guarding all of the babies and all of the mothers keeping them in line.

The daddy quails form sentries and guard each corner and barrier.

This big daddy was in the highest sentry position, on the railing of my second floor deck, watching out for all invaders from sea and sky.

And, to us, he looked especially proud of the large and growing covey below.
