Description

The magical fissures of Tessellated Pavement on the Tasman Peninsula. I wanted to show off the fissures and so I waited until the tide had swamped the fissures and was ebbing back through the cracks to grab this image. By the way the fissures are natural and not manmade!

Well-captured, Mike! No grad line, even toned, and the composition is spot on. Being it's such a grid in the FG, the square-on approach pulls your eye in really well. Nicely done. I appreciate the photo specs; you answered two questions I had: how long of an exposure was needed to get the misty look to the water, and how low do you set the tripod to get that "right on top of it" look, so thanks! I've got the same 5D/17-40mm setup, so you've got me inspired to get shootin'.

The colors and composition is amazing. But, I was especially interested to learn that you used a two stop grad filter with your 5D.

This would definitely reduce the time on the computer and allow you to spend more time capturing wonderful images.
