Dan,
Congratulations on POTD! This is one of the finest wildlife shots I've seen in a very long time. The early morning rim lighting and steamy breath makes me almost smell the cold, crisp, air -- excellent!
God Bless,

Charles Haire September 30, 2004

It's a good shot, but appears to be over done in photoshop or a similar program. The foreground lighting is not common with back lighted subjects in my opinion. Back lighted subjects are not bright in the foreground unless supplemental lighting is applied. Also, there appears to be substantial noise and pixelation around the edges of the image, probably due to extreme sharpening. Overall it's a good photo. #814924

Thanks for the response. However, the lighting does appear this way in the original transparency. I did, however, adjust the contrast and I may have oversharpened because it was such a small file. Thanks again. #815040

Wonderful backlighting, tonality, and composition. I can see the reason this was selected as both a POTD and finalist. Well done, Dan. #9038334
