Did some playing around in PS and came up with this. For a description of how I did it, see the first comment below.

I layered the original, desaturated the layer and then used the eraser tool over the layer to reveal the colors in the original photo. For the flag in the glasses I took a pic of a flag on top of a building, resized it, then cut out an outline of the eye area of the glasses and then copied the cutout over the flag and copied/overlayed the flag onto the photo and then changed the layer setting from normal to soft light to overlay it onto the glasses.
