Nice use of the HDR technique. I have used it also on one of my pics and love the effect. I have found that this technique does not work on everything but here, it has done very well. Nice shoot........ #4036347Helen N. McHugh May 08, 2007

Wonderful shot--beautiful colors in the water (I'm guessing that's due to processing for HDR?). Congratulations on a great POTD! #4260165Fax Sinclair May 08, 2007

HDR techinique have produced a lot of powerful images around the net. You'll just have to learn the basics and get to know when to properly apply it is the way to go at least for me.More of my Thailand Photos

Well, thank you, but HDR - the letters - must stands for something, but nobody will tell me (crying loud), so I try Google :) #4263634Steinar Kibsgaard May 09, 2007
Google is your friend. It stands for High Dynamic Range, and it is something about shooting ex. 5 photos with 5 different exposures and then combining.
How to do that?: Do not have a clue :)
But as mentioned "Google is your friend" #4263657

Hello everyone. To shoot in HDR, you can do it with varying amount of exposures. I personally use three.
First, you'll need to steady your camera on a tripod (or something else sturdy). It also helps tremendously to have a cable release.
Second, set your camera to bracketing mode. I use increments of 2 for exposure compensation.
Third, you need software to combine them. Photoshop can do it, but Photomatix seems to do a better job. Photomatix can be purchased at $100 from www.hdrsoft.com, or $30 if you are a student (I have a .edu e-mail address, that let me get the discount).
If anybody needs any help at all please send me a message! #4264372

Hallo JonBeautifull photo, and now I know what HDR or - as it often is called I just learned at Google - HDRI -really is.
Just started with raw some days ago, and there is plenty to look after here, but thank you - maybe that will be the next when I am raw-educated enough :)
My favourtie setting (D200) is:
Appterture mode but at the same time D200 offers you (in same setting-mode in the display) to set the meter as a shutterspeed, as if you were shooting in Manual, and there you can set over (+ev)or under (-ev) zero (changing the shutter), so I think this is the same as bracketing ?? #4264490
