The only stranger I see these days is really myself, but I did get my email address and send myself the photo... #9287591

The Stranger's photo won't load...I wonder why? #9287594

Susan M. Reynolds level-addict March 12, 2011

The first photo is almost six years old taken in August of 2005 with my first Nikon N65 film camera using Black & White film in harsh sunlight & scanned with an old scanner to my computer.
I know it his blown highlights & other issues, but I needed a comparison shot to show the difference in who I used to be against the Stranger Within Me for the monthly theme, since I am not able to get out.
The 'stranger's photo' was taken on 2/13/10 and pretty much sums up my feelings still today...though I'm working towards a road that's homeward bound back to the other me.
The set up for this self-portrait was on a tripod using a timed shutter delay and the light of a single candle to the right of me. It was taken at 8:47 p.m. sitting at my kitchen table. EFEX: SS 1.6, Manual Mode, f/2.8, ISO 200, 50mm lens, No Flash, Spot Metering #9287615

After a about two hours we changed in the car and decided to let our hair down so to speak, then went for iced coffee at the shop across from the Auburn courthouse. #9287666

Susan, I enjoyed these images you've just shared with you and your daughter. Those of you who have grown children living close to you are very lucky indeed. I have to be satisfied with both of mine living too far away to visit except once or twice a year. #9289331

Beautiful shots of you and Charlotte! Esp. like your original post with the two of you together! 2005...sounds like you need another girls day out and take some new pictures! :~) #9290313

over at my daughters again just wanted to ck and found this lovely picture of you and your daughter and then a great series of them thank you for sharing them with us.

very clever on the stranger for the month. I was very touched by your self portrait and your poem. I believe that we all feel that way sometime in our life. I hope that stranger begins to smile back at you. #9290363

Hi Susan;
I think your original post is awesome, just beautiful. Great series of posts after that, too.

When I first injured my back back in 2005 and in the times since that include great pain, I've shared the same unsettled feelings as those written in your post.

We are each different and each must find our path through. For me its waking up and finding beauty in the simplest of things and in spite of the circumstances. It can be the simple beauty of the sun shinning through my window, that I hold dear and let that lead me through a day with happy thoughts and blessings.

My dear Susan, I wish you the very, very best. Hugs and Luv.

Yes, know all about pain also... both physical and emotional. It is a very fortunate person that manages to get through life with out either a dose of it, or more than their fair share throughout their lifetime. However, once we weep, we must get up, dust off, and try to heal the damaged parts.

Susan your self-portrait is very moving, and a huge contast to the posted image. The person in THAT image and all the subsequent ones in still inside you waiting to be released, she possibly just needs your permission.

Thank you all for your input on the series of "before/after" photos which included my "stranger photo".
Back in 2005...That was such a fun time that summer/fall and I long for the days gone by - wish I could have just frozen time to that era.
Joan, I find your suggestion that perhaps the 'stranger' needs my permission to be released from the sadness...I've never thought of it in those terms before....will definitely be thinking on that & writing about it in my journal.
If I'm able to get out at all this month, I promise to bring my camera and try to find another stranger before the month is out...keeping my fingers crossed on that one. #9295481

p.s. I had a lot of these of my daughter, Charlotte and I, printed through MPix in different sizes/shapes including several I didn't post.
My hope was to make a collage of them on her old bedroom wall, which would be my multipurpose photography/sewing/memorybook room. We'd painted it a very light blue with white trim and white curtains...I guess I'll have to settle with putting them up somewhere in whatever place we find to move to. The search for another place is not going well... #9295639

These are all wonderful pictures!! I love your .
I really like your self portrait and your writing is very touching and I understand a lot of what you are saying.

Susan - we never quite know what is in store for us. I wish you all the best in your search for a new home. Although it may not be the one that tugs on your heartstrings that "chooses" you, I feel confident that you will make the physical house that ends up yours a wonderful home. Just be open to the possibilities, and heed Joan's advice - there is a lot of wisdom in that short and powerful paragraph. #9296889
