Thank you, everyone, for all your great comments! It's a nice reward for the 4 hours of standing in the gusting winds with a chill factor of approx. -20°F that it took to get this pano. The lights were on and off as was the wind, but not at the same time. I was just about to give it up when the opportunity arose at 2:00AM. The display was strong and the wind slowed enough to get 3 long exposures in succession without vibration of the camera. It was a good thing I got a great picture, because it helped justify my long & late absence, as my wife was very upset because she couldn't sleep due to her worrying about me and had to get up early in the morning. I was forgiven after showing her the photo :-) #292903Gary H. Minish December 12, 2003

Thank you, everyone, for your wonderful congratulations and comments! I was on a business trip to Anchorage and got stuck there for the whole week due to high winds at Valdez, then contracted a nasty case of the flu the day I returned so I didn't find out about my win till today. I am very grateful for the continuous support and encouragement that I receive from all of you and would like to apologize for not being an active participant the last few months. I know I have missed the opportunity to view and comment on many great photos from each of you which makes it feel very one sided. I hope the situation improves shortly as the real pleasure of this site, for me, is the friendly communication and sharing. The people at betterphoto are the real prize, and one that every contestant gets to win! :-) #339498Cathy Barrows January 21, 2004
