Wherever these falls are, they're beautiful. My first instinct would be Seven Sacred Pools in Maui, HI. I am just not sure the colors are quite right for that location. However, those are my only falls knowledge, so I will go with that. Good luck everyone! #2610685Laura E. OConnor April 05, 2006
Hm... Looks like the falls near where I grew up. Could it be Kent Falls in Kent, CT? #2610906Richard H. Turpin April 05, 2006
Hi Jim! ... Perhaps it's not fair for us to answer this one since we were with you when you took the shot, but our notes (actually, Sylvia's photo of the sign pointing to the falls) tell us it is a photo of Purakaunui Falls in Purakaunui Falls Scenic Reserve, South New Zealand. Is this McKenzie Falls, Victoria, Australia? Looks quite similar.Diana #2611283

Wow, New Zealand... I thought for sure this would be in the Willamette National Forest in Oregon. Beautiful image! #2611324Claudia/Theo Bodmer April 05, 2006

Oops, after reading the rest of the posts, I see someone has already answered. Sorry. #2611700Rick G. Nicholson April 05, 2006
My guess is Upstate NY.Rick #2612098Pat Gamwell April 05, 2006
If this is not within 5 miles of my home in Sacramento, CA...I wouldn't have the slightest idea where they would be!! lol:)Kathleen Henry April 06, 2006
My guess would be the Flamingo or Wynn in Las Vegas. They both have beautiful nature areas in the desert. #2616155Buddy Purugganan April 06, 2006
I'd stay and take a dip here and maybe forget my cam afterwards!( don't you hate it when THAT happens ?) Its probably somewhere in Mexico. Its magnificent! #2616530Yvy Ulibarri April 06, 2006
As long as guesses are free, my guess is that it is Ocho Rios in Jamaica. #2616543Jim Miotke My Courses April 11, 2006
Excellent! Kudos to all for such good guesses! And the correct answer is...
New Zealand!
Yes, Dick and Sylvia were with me but I also noticed a couple others got it right. Great job!
Regardless of where you find falls like this to photograph, here's the trick: overcast or shade. Avoid shooting them in direct sunlight, and use a polarizer or ND filter to darken things so you can use a slow shutter speed.
Way to go! #2633953
