Force of Nature

Description

This is Titan, one of the band of wild mustangs on the Black Mountain Range in the Owyhee Mountains of Idaho. He is a true Force of Nature. There were 22 mares, foals and yearlings in his band on August 6, 2023 when the BLM started the helicopter gather on this range with the intent of bringing the population of the herd down from 132 to a very low number of 30. Titan had other plans. Titan and his band escaped the trap 4 times. They gave up for the day. 5 days later they moved the trap and he and most of his band were gathered. Due to his propensity to take his mares off the HMA, he was slated to be taken off the range permanently. Thanks to a mis-identification error, he was mixed up with another horse and released on a nearby HMA and now runs free. 6 of his band members evaded the gather and remain on the Black Mountain Range.

Wonderful capture of this gorgeous creature. I am so glad he got away in the end. Did you go out with the Treasure Valley Camera Club? I live in the valley and was curious. #12078233
