The husband and I were driving through Tulelake National Wildlife Refuge and stumbled upon a pile of what I thought was rocks. Then a few moved. This particular bird is not common in our area of Southern Oregon/Northern California, they were passing through along the Pacific Flyway Migration Route. It was exciting to get home and research what the bird was!

Congratulations! A lucky find and so well photographed! Love the depth of field with only a few birds in sharp focus, just the way they must have appeared to you when they looked like "rocks..." Just lovely. #12052770Jacquie Palazzolo September 18, 2023
