Frozen In Time

Friday morning everything was glazed in freezing rain. Icicles hanging from a metal table in my yard was the perfect subject. This was my first time using this lens & I was trying to keep it dry. I did not seem to have enough hands so I got frustrated & threw the umbrella on the ground... then it occurred to me... this would make a great blurred background! So I tried a few shots & regained my 'you can do this attitude'. I put the umbrella on the ground behind the table & a micro-fiber cloth over my camera & lens to keep it dry. The light was non-directional so I got a big flashlight & lit the icicles. The one to the left of center was my focus then when I saw them on the pc I found an ant frozen in the icicle on the far left.

Thank you for the great description. I have had that feeling myself. You recovered, it appears, greatly as this is a beautiful capture of the icicles and reflections. The DoF is perfect and there is both a sense of texture in the frozen water and a sense of "burr." Well done. #1732161Sara B Coffey December 21, 2019
