My brother in law was in the Coast Guard. So, as a treat when I and a friend were out visiting him and my sister in Florence, Oregon, he took my friend and into the lighthouse and to the top. We got to ride the rotating turret, home to the powerful light bulb, that projects the light beam over twenty miles out to sea. It is an amzing piece of work that is made up of nearly all brass to protect it from the salt air. The walls of prisms were beautiful, to say the least. My friend and I were very fortunate. #11133764
