Fresh Fungus May 11

---
I don't remember the exact date when I first noticed this fungus growing on a tree stump beside our driveway. But it looked like two ping-pong balls that day--maybe a little smaller.
----
The next time I took notice was on May 9. It was about seven inches at the widest diameter and was very intriguing. I showed that day's photo to our fascinating photographer, Renata, who is an experienced mushroom forager, and she advised NOT to eat it.
----
By yesterday the monster was over 10 inches wide and looked like this. I blackened the background to spotlight the fungus better. A May 9 photo on the stump is going to be posted in the discussion area.

It's actually quite beautiful and graceful and with the black BG it's hard to tell if it is growing in the sea or on land! nature sure does produce some fascinating life forms! We have tree stumps around here that those before us made cutting trees that overgrew and we have mushrooms that grow in them. They look nothing like this however! WOW to YOURS! :D
