These pictures were taken on a windy evening in the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge. It was too windy to get what I wanted so I light painted with the camera. Here are a couple more. #1530662Dale Hardin June 01, 2013
Clever way to handle less than optimum conditions Beth. Well done. #10718650Kalena Randall June 02, 2013
Very nice, Beth! #10719389Elaine Hessler June 02, 2013
I really like the first post-it looks like rays of green light are coming from the center. Can you clue me into what light painting is? #10719699Beth Spencer June 02, 2013
Thank you Dale and Kalena. Elane, This is different from what Jeff does. This works well when you have some contrast in the subjects like the trees and leaves or grass. All you need to do is set the aperture fairly small focus on the subject, this should cause the time to be somewhat slow. As you press the shutter and take the picture, you can wiggle the camera up and down, or zoom in or out. The first is zoom in and out and the other 2 were up and down. I did some last night with some locus trees, if I get to them I will post them. It is quite fun! #10719823lisa anderson June 02, 2013
I think the second one works particularly well Beth. Maybe crop it on the left and top a little? #10719883Debbra Bailey June 02, 2013
Very surreal! #10719900Jeff E Jensen June 02, 2013
Yup, very cool, indeed! #10719954Susan Williams June 02, 2013
I love these types of shots and they always remind me of the mysteries of the forest. All of these work for me for different reasons. I really like the vertical pan.I would be so tempted to have some fun with your original post -- like cut out the center trees and have the light beams meet to create a vanishing point or a vortex. #10719992

I love playing around with these type of shots...very random results but also very artistic. Good job! #10720409Beth Spencer June 04, 2013
