Focus Stacking Technique.
Robert Jensen April 03, 2013
great work - how many images did it take to create this? #1522310Carlos Esteban Solis Fallas April 03, 2013
Thank you Robert. 42 images. Software used: Zerene Stacker. #10640322Robert Jensen April 03, 2013
Thanks - have been using Helicon Focus but I hear that Zerene is better. What lens did you use? #10640592Carlos Esteban Solis Fallas April 03, 2013
For me, the better software. I use a Canon Macro 100 mm f/2.8L + Extension Tubes + Microscopic Lens. #10640691Robert Jensen April 03, 2013
Thanks - what do you mean by microscopic lens? Are you referring to a 2 element screw on diopter? #10640721Carlos Esteban Solis Fallas April 03, 2013
Specifically a Raynox MSN-202. #10640723Robert Jensen April 03, 2013
thanks #10640727Robert Jensen April 03, 2013
So the Raynox is a stand alone lens? I might try my old Olympus 20mm macro lens that does up to 9x's life size with the auto extension tubes. #10640730Carlos Esteban Solis Fallas April 03, 2013
Yes. It has an adapter to be attached to the lenses. #10640731Robert Jensen April 03, 2013
I see some people use it as a standalone. Are you saying that you actually attach the Raynox on to the Canon 100 macro?Carlos Esteban Solis Fallas April 03, 2013
Exactly!!! #10640765Robert Jensen April 03, 2013
Thanks again. I think I will order one. #10640814Carlos Esteban Solis Fallas April 03, 2013
You are welcome friend. This model is an excellente choice. Find me in FB and my website is www.carlosesteban.net. #10640837Robert Jensen April 04, 2013
Do you use a focusing rail? #10641161Carlos Esteban Solis Fallas April 04, 2013
Yes. A cheap focus raik bought in Amazon. #10641166Robert Jensen April 04, 2013
When you are stacking so many images, do you shoot them in jpeg mode? I would image RAW would be a nightmare in terms of memory. #10641364Carlos Esteban Solis Fallas April 04, 2013
I am using JPG now. The Zerene Stacker only read tiff and jpg formats then we will need to convert the raw files and that make the process so hard. But I´d like to test FS using raw files later to see the difference. #10641375Robert Jensen April 04, 2013
I use RAW but am only doing stacks on flowers that are up to about 10 images. 50-75 in RAW would be way too big. If I get a macro rail system I think I will shoot these in jpeg. #10641403Carlos Esteban Solis Fallas April 04, 2013
That´s right! Can you write me to solis@carlosesteban.net please. #10641422Sharon Sawyer April 05, 2013
