Description

The Shelburne Falls during flood; the beautiful swirling stone is metamorphic gneiss, pushed and pulled under high pressures and temperatures
during tectonic plate collisions some 480 million years ago (early Paleozoic), when this part of MA was an island mass not yet part of the continent.

Thanks so much! I'm thrilled this one advanced; it was a hard shoot---way too bright for a long exposure, and I didn't have an ND filter to help cut the light. (The original capture is quite bright, but luckily was not totally blown out in the highlights.) #10339939
