Uploaded: March 18, 2012
Stopped at The Sinks on the Little River in the Smokies and just happpened to be there when these guys came through. Shot a few as some of the more experienced went through. A wide angle shot of this place before these guys arrived in the discussion.

I live near the Smokies and people go rafting around here, but you really have to go up the river to see them, and only by boat. Not for me! You caught this great rafting shot. Congratulations on your POTD! #10065387Rona L. Schwarz March 29, 2012
Superb action capture, Randy!! Great timing to catch this guy at the perfect moment. And I love your wide angle HDR capture, too! Aside from being a lovely image, it really puts the difficulty of shooting the rapids in perspective (not for the faint of heart!) and provides great scale. Congratulations on an outstanding POTD! #10065394Kitty R. Rodehorst-Hanna March 29, 2012

Wow, thanks everyone for your comments. Very impressive the skill shown by these guys going over these rapids. As the sign at the edge of the falls states (which is a little blurry in the photo since I was in Servo mode): "Extreme Caution - Swift moving water contains strong down currents. Serious injuries have occurred." I was content to enjoy (and, of course, shoot :)! #10066012Beth OMeara March 29, 2012

Terrific whitewater paddling image on canoeist on the Little River.I've never paddled the Little River, but have paddled the Nanny in North Carolina, the Locust Fork of the Warrior River in Alabama and parts of the river in Georgia where Deliverance was filmed. That last was the hairiest of them all. Although, a photographer did capture me losing my balance when paddling the largest water fall on the Locust Fork and then flying into the drink, as I fell forward over the bow. I should have been leaning back like this guy! My second run over the fall kept me in the canoe and far drier than my first try. So thankful we learned to paddle white water while we were young --the experience was exhilarating!!! #10069215
