Thanks folks! It is one of a dozen or so for a magazine article concept. Always fun to have an assignment with no rules! #9444993Chris Budny June 20, 2011
Love those greens against the the black! What do you use for your reflective surface? #9469233Jon M. Lamrouex June 20, 2011
The reflection is from a mirror about 2' sq. I positioned everything against a photo black background and used my position and the lighting in the studio to make sure everything was absolute black. This was a very fun still life and won many praises from the editor.
The lighting really gave depth to the image though and that took a little experimentation.
Thanks for the comment and question. It made me think about the how and why all over again. #9469264

Thank you for the info---I'm thinking about some quite close-up/macro shots, and I wanted a black background and black reflection---but my early attempts so far have been plagued by a faint "double reflection"---ie, the top-most surface of the glass reflects very slightly, then the mirroring surface at the bottom of the glass also reflects, as the primary reflection.Veronica Beaudry July 04, 2011
Great image. Beautiful composition. Using black as the background was a great choice. I love the reflection. Fantastic. #9506080Usman M. Bajwa July 08, 2011
