This is an illusion. The people in the photo were really not being sprinkled.

I "saw" this view when I had the photo super-enlarged on my screen in order to edit some details. So, after cropping it, the idea of the charcoal look occurred to me. It was easily created using TOPAZ ADJUST 4, with a bit of tweaking. I'll show the uncropped, color original in the discussion area.
