Rotation Cell
Uploaded: June 10, 2005 13:40:48
180/4.5, 28mm F3.5 Quantaray, Chippewa Falls WI, This rotating cell was massive. It took about an hour to build and once it did, it scared the wits out of the entire area. Both sides of the cell were lime green and the rotationg lines leading down to the mess over the horizon was muddy brown and gray. The flags in the yards went from blowing North to an about face and blowing severly South in a matter of minutes.

Tony, this is an awesome shot. Did it ever toouch down. I would have been terrified. #261373Tony Wilder June 10, 2005
Yes, but not for another 30-45 mins later one county North East of me. But all day, all weekend, it was a wild ride. One cell after another. I shots 11 roll sin one weekend. Everything from double rainbows, to shelf and wall clouds to hail storms to funnel clouds. At one point the entire sky as far as I could see was yellow. And a distant rain band was slowly approaching. The adreniline really starts to pump. I don't have an incar radar yet so it gets frantic at times. #1455604Debbie Truesdale June 10, 2005

Whoa! This is such an awesome capture! I cannot image being there and seeing this in person. I guess I need to call my family in WI to see how they faired! What county was it where it touched down at? Sawyer? #1455672Tony Wilder June 10, 2005
nope, Clark County, Rusk County and Dunn county got the brunt, Northern Chippewa County got some of it. #1456667bob cornelison June 11, 2005
Love this shot! I grew up in Okla. and we saw alot of weird clouds and changes in the weather in a matter of minutes. It was fun and scarey at the same time!Tony Wilder June 11, 2005
