Lovely tribute #1229372Protacio Serna April 04, 2005
Well...there's not much left to say.His persona shed a light so bright, that just seeing him was enough to feel peace. This is a picture I took a few days ago, and printed it while learning about the Pope's death
This is an image I was hesitating to post. What you see on your screen is nothing compared to the printed version.
I'll be delighted to send an 11x17 in. print for each one of you.
Thanks for your comments.
Sincerely

This is a wonderful picture! where was this taken?Protacio Serna April 05, 2005
Thanks Roxana. Loved your message. Thanks Maya for your comment.
This picture was taken inside a the church located in a cemetery in Real de Catorce, S.L.P. Mexico.
Real de Catorce is a small town with a wonderful history, but became a ghost town after the Spanish left the town and went back to their country.
Nowadays it is a wonderful place to relax, enjoy nature, people, crafts, and every now and then a movie is filmed in one of those great locations.
"The mexican" was filmed there (J. Roberts and B. Pitt) and recently "Las bandidas" with P. Cruz and S. Hayek. Part of the latter was filmed inside this church.
You can see some other pictures at

Thanks again.

OK sorry to be a party pooper. Your photos are great, and this one is certainly beautiful, but I am missing something? Where is the religious significance? This could be a palace. Don’t jump on me, I’m really asking (I’m not Catholic). I also think one element should be vertical. #1301328Protacio Serna April 28, 2005
Thanks for your comment about my photos Michael. I appreciate it.About the first question: Where is the religious significance?
It was taken at a church. An old catholic church. It could be a palace as well, but so far…well until now…those who have seen the image know it is a church. But I agree with you: there is not a single part of it that clearly states it is a church.
The distortion is due to the lens I was using and aiming high it increases the distortion. That is something not only knew form the moment I took the picture, but it was something I expected before I took the shot. I tried to make the column in the middle as vertical as possible, but it increased the angle of the column on the right.
Distortion is a problem…but if there’s one thing I regret is not having more space behind me or a wider lens to include the whole arch in the upper part of the image.
Thanks for your input.
Regards

Great image, Protacio. As a long time architectural photographer I really appreciate a capture that defines the space so elegantly. Sometimes in architectural subjects a bit of distortion is very much accepted. Very well done.Miles #1390948
