Wonderful lighting, love the warm tones. The silhoutted cactus and golden rays of sun combine for a dramatic impact. Nicely done Dale. #1390922John Rivera July 06, 2011
Beautiful capture! #9511446Dale Hardin July 06, 2011
thanks Reynaldo and John. Had so much fun that day. My friend and neighbor owns the jeep and has a home on the river. He took me out into the desert and on that day he learned all about "chasing the light" :o) #9511617Jeff Robinson July 06, 2011
Very beautifully composed and captured Dale!! #9511662Dale Hardin July 06, 2011
Thank you very much Jeff. #9511729Patricia White July 06, 2011
I was wondering if you could maybe take out the jeep. I know he is your ride but I think maybe it would have made a more dramatic photo without the jeep. It has all the right elements otherwise. #9511934Dale Hardin July 06, 2011
Hi Patricia. I took out the jeep as you suggested but to me it has a lot less impact. Especially since the title infers that there are people exploring. Also without the jeep you lose the sense of scale. Here's the result. What do you think? Is it as you envisioned? #9512497
Lucy Abrao July 07, 2011
I agree with Patricia, it looks so much better without the jeep. The jeep is a distraction that could be left out of an otherwise beautiful image. Very nice!!Dale Hardin July 07, 2011
thanks for your comments Lucille. Enjoyed your gallery and noticed many from the Oregon Coast. Will be up there early September. #9514165Emile Abbott July 09, 2011
Dale chasing the light is one of the great things we photographers do that so many other individuals miss. You nailed this one perfect with the right tones. Owning a jeep and being and having been an extreme off road jeeper it did not bother me tho have it in but I do think for artistic and judging purposes to have removed it would be best. Tell your friend to move the jeep next time and save DD time. Awesome captures both Dale. Do not get heat stroke. #9518408Dale Hardin July 09, 2011
thank you Emile. I hope to get back out there this July. It was too early for the boaters on the river on this trip but should get some good shots next time.Thank you for the advise. I really like the desert. So much to see. #9518902

Beautiful capture Dale. Great lighting and sky. My wife's sister lives in Green Valley, AZ and when visiting I always try to find a great saguaro to line up with a great sunset. I have not had much luck so far. Nice work! #9580219Dale Hardin August 03, 2011
Thanks William. Got lucky that day as noted above. My neighbor and his jeep helped me chase them all evening and managed quite a few. Nothing like four wheeling to help with desert travel.Next time you head that way give a holler and maybe we can look for them together. (if it isn't too far) :o) #9580538

ON YOUR BIG GOLD WIN, DALE!!!
Well, excuse me if I say that I like the jeep there. It DOES add scale and I bet "Jeep" might like to use this for an AD??? This was living proof that we need to go with our own gut and do what we like the best! Lol..(You aren't surprised to hear this coming from -me- now, are you???...And I KNOW you have a big smile on your face right now!!! HeeHee!)
Congratulations AGAIN!
Your Friend, Laura :)
