OMGOMGOMG! Is this for real? Or did it happen in DDR-land?
Whatever - it's got to be the cutest image I've seen. I love the frosty window (if we had that I would take pictures all day and night. I love the artwork that Nature creates with water and frost) and that cute fellow just peeping in trough the little open space with his 'demanding' eyes - it's just too precious, MSSSLala.

I love the way the ice crystals frame the cute little guy begging for peanuts! I see these all the time - the dog I was fostering also dug up a lot of their "food for a rainy day" pecans in my backyard! :)

Sister Kalena, I hope you are still connected to this thread 'cuz I want to tell you a story.

I have spent hours observing the behaviors of these little vermin. (That I love and ONLY SHOOT with my camera! HA!) It's so comical. Do you know what happens? (And WHY we always find peanuts all around uneaten???)

This is a fact! One will find or take a peanut from us then go bury it. Fine and dandy...Right?...but THEN ANOTHER ONE will be watching and WAITING until the coast is clear THEN he goes and digs it up and moves it to HIS new spot! Well THIS goes on a lot. In our first house we lived in a basement at ground level and I got to know them and even named them all. I'd SEE a squirrel come back for his peanut LATER and dig ALL AROUND never to find it...and of course it's not there. Someone stole it and moved it.

Lesson To The Story?

Only give them peanuts in cracked shells if you ever want to see them eat. They will stop and eat them. If the shell is unharmed they bury it...Then it's a 80%/20% chance they will ever see it after they bury it!

Karen...Not the chipmunks but the squirrels are all around this area where the house is. Gray ones and also BLACK squirrels. They LIVE ALL OVER THE PLACE here and a few would like to run in the house! :) I truly love them. It's especially fun to fatten them up this time of year! :)))

Congrats on your 2nd place win Laura!!! I love the little squirrel looking in! Speaking of which, I used to love squirrels and they always reminded me of cats running round with their tails up in the air. But then, I started feeding my birds, and the ones at the other house where we lived, the squirrels there were horrible about stealing the bird feed. The economy was (still is) bad and I could barely afford to keep food for the birds and could not feed the squirrels too. I even bought them cracked corn which they did not want. I did everything to keep them away but they even climbed up on the house and would jump out and down to get on my feeder which was over 10 foot from the house. I began to hate them before it was over. I caught some in a humane trap and relocated them to a nice woody area. Finally we moved and the squirrels here are not like that. They want the food, but they don't do everything in their power to get it. I really believe the others stood on each others shoulders to reach my feeders when they were not leaping off the roof! #9238060
