A Midnight Clear
Uploaded: December 13, 2009 15:08:22
I wanted to try a shot of this figurine with my Christmas Tree in the background. I mounted the figurine on top of a light stand. I then positioned it about 6 feet in front of the tree. I placed a small desk lamp (the one I used in my other angel shot) down below the figurine about 2.5 feet. I kept the coffee can lids on, in front of the lamp, to soften and diffuse the light. I then aimed the lamp directly to the underside of the figurine. I used my 100mm macro lens and took several shots at varying f/stop settings to control the size of the lights (blur) in the bokeh. I ended up using f/4.0. To divide the lighting, I placed a small piece of black felt over the Xmas tree lights then positioned the camera angle to place the angel kind of in the middle of the dark spot.
