The Currituck Beach Lighthouse in Corolla, NC, part of the North Carolina Outer Banks. On December 1, 1875 the beacon of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse filled the remaining "dark spot" on the North Carolina coast between the Cape Henry light to the north and Bodie Island to the south

This is my favorite of your July entries, Sue -- thought it was so cool I went out and got a suitable texture and did one myself :) I love the way the tear gives the viewer the sense of discovery. Beautiful scene you used it on, too. I also like your Atlanta aquarium shots, Dragonfly on a Lotus (my runner-up), and Shared Circuit and Lonely -- love the design elements in this kind of shot. Well, you already know I'm a big fan of this one, Sue, so I'll just tell you I think a large part of the genius here comes in having the vision (or courage) to place the texture as you did. Had you placed it so that the lighthouse was clearly revealed, you would have had an excellent but perhaps predictable result.
