Why didn't I think of this? We have a very shy woodpecker that I've been unable to approach close enough for a decent shot. I've seen him through the window many times and wished I could just open the door or the window and grab the shot but he bolts the minute he hears the sounds. I didn't think of shooting him through the window because it would distort the image....but this is EXCELLENT! Very well composed and shot and a very unique and creative idea. Congratulations on a well deserved First Place, Roger! #344415

Many thanks to all who viewed and/or made comment on this image. It was both an honor and a surprise to have been selected as a finalist and a humbling experience and an astonishment to be selected as first place.
The image is actually three images merged together. Two were of my car's windshield, from inside the car after a moderate rain. This gave the image the moisture effect and a slight background coloration. The bird was shot from inside my house. He was feeding at my wife's bird feeding station about ten feet from the window. I then merged this image with the two windshield images. Aside from the merging there was no PS touch-up or tweaking. Again, thanks to all for your kind, considerate comments. roger #349754
