**CIRCULAR IN NATURE** ACBP-Design
Uploaded: April 06, 2008 16:44:30
As beginning photographers we are taught the "Rule of Thirds". Taking that knowledge to its next logical step we learn to use the golden spiral, an aesthetic principle to create a symmetrical ,visual flow to our work. Call it what you will: phi, golden mean, divine proportion or the golden ratio - what it boils down to at the nature's most basic is the inside of a rose - that spiral nautilus shape we humans and all nature is drawn to.
Set-up: macro lens, f/4.5, ISO 400 at 1/80 of a second.

Cesar -- I'm not sure how I missed your lovely compliment! I really had fun with this bunch of roses and this is hands down my favorite one. Thank you for taking the time to comment and I apologize for just now noticing this. Where does the time go? #5898041Aimee C. Eisaman May 09, 2008

Thank you Aimee! I would like to see this one get a Finalist, but they are so very hard to come by with as much talent as BP has here. It's taught me so much just to browse through some of these accomplished photographers' and wonder how I can possibly get that good. Its such fun just to try!! #5905610Eugenio Diaz May 19, 2008

See...not a finalist....a winner! Way to go! YOu are growing so much in your work.....well done! #6023566Debbie E. Payne June 05, 2008
Thank you both! I used to obsess because it took me over a year to get my first finalist. As I look through all the finalists I am amazed at my good fortune to even get that far. There is so much talent here that it boggles the mind and the more we look at each others work, the better the "gene pool" gets. Maybe one day I will get a First Place but I am happy with what I get and am delighted to be a Second Place winner considering the talent pool! I try to just compete against myself. When I look at my images from those first few classes I took I am amazed at how far BP has taken me. #6023680Shelly A. Van Camp June 06, 2008

It's been quite a while since this thread popped up on my computer and Shelly, I apologize for not realizing that you had commented. This is probably my favorite of my placed EP's.And Candice, it is always fun to hear from you. It's the simplicity that probably got my this far on this one! #6995431
