Study in silver and gold

Aperture f 8.0, shutter speed 15 secs, taken around 7.30 pm, just too late for twilight.

Jean. I'm impressed that you got away with f8 on this nicely coloured and composed shot. Don't worry about losing the colour from twilight. The greys in the sky and building compliment each other - a deep blue would have spoiled it, although sunset might have enhanced it (if the sun was setting on the buildings). The only criticism is that you've appeared to have cropped the main tower and the foreground object. #66295Jean Young October 14, 2003
Thanks for the comments Ian. I think you're right about the blue sky - it probably would have been distracting in this shot. I didn't realise that I'd cropped the edge off the fountain - it irritates me too, now that I've noticed it. The crop of the top of the building was deliberate - there are two huge great poles reaching up into the sky and including their full length meant I had what I thought was too much sky in the picture. Cropping right at the top of the building was the lesser of two evils.Jean #231585

What a beautifully composed photograph. I loved the shades of grey in the bldgs and the opposing designs across the bldgs themselves. I also liked the way the yellow lights of the fountain lit up the underside of the sprawling tree branches. The star formations of the street lights are also very soft and lovely. Very nice photo to look at and study. #257684Sharon E. Lowe November 18, 2003

Jean, congrats on your win with this shot. The perspective on this is very nice. I've been to HK Park and have shot that fountain and the other one in the background also, but never at night. (BEAUTIFUL) The "golden" fountain is so tall in person, but in your shot it looks so much smaller.
The BOC building looks so beautiful in this shot....again WELL DONE! #274764
