Thanks to all so much for your comments! This was done by first erasing portions of the image, revealing the white background. I also used palette changes and linear dodge to emphasize the snow. I then applied a glow-like effect with Virtual Photographer. I was having problems with the site or I would have posted the photo as it looked in summer. It does appear in my gallery though, and is called "Beware, Old Barns."

For a different look, I also flipped the photo horizontally. Thanks again for your thoughts on this Experiment! #5171945

From what I have been told by teachers and judges at BP you did not have to tell us this was not real snow and you could have entered and won with this in many categories not just DD. A deer from a taxidermy taken with its dead head and rack sticking out of the bushes would be judged the same as a live deer taken in the woods. In fact the taxidermy deer would more than likely win because it would remain totally still and you could take the shot from a few feet away! #5171971

Thanks, Bill! I don't know about that dead deer; I once tried to take some photos of stuffed wild life at the Kennedy Space Center. Not so great, I'm afraid!!! I forgot to add, that I also used a layer of VanDerLee "Snow" effect. Cool filter, it can come in handy. Thanks again to all (and FYI, the other photo is Beware, Abandoned Barns, not "old" barns. ) Now, I am going out into the snow to catch some of the real stuff! #5172005
