Love in the Willows

Uploaded: May 28, 2007 21:14:15

Description

ISO 1000, f/6.3, 1/640 sec, Canon 600mm IS lens +1.4X extender, tripod. Cropped and minor adjustments in PSCS2. While birding today, I was fortunate to come upon two Cedar Waxwings engaged in an interesting courtship ritual. They would pass a berry back and forth between each other, each holding the berry for a couple of seconds, then quickly but smoothly pass the berry back again. There were several pairs of Cedar Waxwings gathering nesting material in the vicinity as well.
