Broad Jumper at local track meet. Excercise in panning.
America B May 12, 2003
Ronald, nice job panning. Your image is very well executed. I have never tried this but can only imagine how difficult it must be. Any tips? Thanks, America. #34701Ronald Balthazor May 26, 2019
Thanks for the comment, America. I'm currently enrolled in one of the BetterPhoto courses. We were given an assignment to use 1/60, 1/30, or 1/15 sec. shutter speeds and then adjust aperture for correct exposure. You "simply" follow the subject with the camera. This keeps the subject in focus while the background blurs. A fun excercise but the more you explore the more technique and variables you discover. #95881Adam T. Cowart May 26, 2019
Worthy of any issue of Sports Illustrated. I agree, a complicated shot pulled off very well. Keep up the great work! #95890Ronald Balthazor May 26, 2019

Congratulations Ronald! Your panning shot came out much better than mine for this assignment! Although this was probably the most difficult lesson, it sure was fun and informative! Good luck in the finals! #115339Ronald Balthazor May 26, 2019
Thanks, Ron. I appreciate your feedback. It was a fun lesson and my "better" results may just be a factor of the number of attempts from which I had to choose. #115404Kathleen Clemons May 26, 2019
I've never had much success with panning, but you make it look so easy, Ronald! Congratulations on your win! :) #117053Ray Javier May 26, 2019

Well done Ron, I always thought that this and Terry's shot were the best panning shots from the class and they have both made it to the winners circle. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing more of your work right here at betterphoto.com #117848Connie L. Carpenter May 26, 2019

Great action shot,Ronald! The clear focus is on his face which shows the strain and effort, exemplifying the speed shown by the blurring. Very powerful! Congratulations on your win! #118632Wanda Judd May 26, 2019
