I HAVE LEARNED HOW TO UPLOAD AND TO ENTER THE CONTEST. HAVE ALSO FUMBLED THOUGH SOME OTHER AREAS ON THE SITE.WHAT DO I DO TO GET THE PICTURES I MAKE REVIEWED BY OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS?
IS THERE AN EASY WAY TO FIND A PHOTOGRAPHER BY NAME OR A PICTURE WHICH HAS BEEN ENTERED IN THE CONTEST? #426533
Ray Clarke April 14, 2006
I love the way this has been framed John, really different. As you have put this into constructive critique , others will now see the photo in the list and hopefully open it up and review it for you. To find a photo that has been entered in the contest, click on photo contest in the menu on the left of your screen and then click on recent entries. To find a photographer by name, click on galleries and then premium gallery owners. However this will only find people who have a premium gallery. I am not sure there is a way to find people who don't have a premium gallery but maybe someone else could help out on that one? (audrey) #2641077Brendan Knell April 14, 2006
I also really like this. It's like Audrey said, framed very differently, which to me makes it stand out.One way that I've found to find someone is to go to the upper left-hand corner and search their name under the "Search Site." This may or may not work, depending on how active the person is in the forum and discussions. #2642940

What an original composition, John! I've gone by and into the Musée d'Orsay countless times, but never noticed this view. Great title, too. #2642952Amy JACKSON April 18, 2006
Great image, John!!! You can look up a members free gallery by searching by their camera type(if you know it), and then looking at pictures created with that camera. It is not the quickest way but it works. #2657855John V. Roscich April 18, 2006
THANKS AMY #2658408Carol Teal April 19, 2006
Wow John, I like (love) it! Beautiful and such a great way to frame it. You sure travel alot don't you? #2663591John V. Roscich April 19, 2006
THANKS CAROL. DO NOT TRAVEL TOO MUCH. PARIS WAS A 5 DAY/4 NIGHT FREE MILES TRIP. ALWAYS HAVE MY CAMERA. THE CLOCK IS ON THE TOP FLOOR OF THE MUSEUM AND LOOKING THROUGH IT IS A GREAT VIEW. TOOK A WHILE TO MAKE THE IMAGE AS LOTS OF PEOPLE KEPT WALKING BY AND LOOKING THOUGH THE CLOCK. #2663606John V. Roscich April 22, 2006
KAYTHANK YOU ALSO FOR THE CORRECT SPELLING. WILL ATTEMPT TO CORRECT IT;HOWEVER, I DO NOT HAVE THE SYMBOL TO PUT OVER THE "E"
LOVED PARIS. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CITY AND SUCH GREAT ARCHITECTURE!!!! MONTMART(SORRY FOR THE SPELLING) WAS GREAT FOR MAKING PICTURES, EXCEPT FOR THE CROWD OF PEOPLE WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT. ACTUALLY EVERY PLACE I VISITED, I SAW AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A PICTURE!!! I WAS DISSAPPOINTED THAT I WAS NOT AN ACCOMPLISHED PHOTOGRAPHER AND DID NOT DO JUSTICE TO WHAT I SAW.
THANKS AGAIN

John, I just checked the Character map, and a lowercase e with an acent acute(Correct me if that's not what it is Kay) is just Alt+0233(é). BTW, you can use the character map to find how to make a lot of symbols including ©(Alt+0169) among others. #2673930John V. Roscich April 23, 2006

I AM LEARNING PS AND WAS PLAYING WITH THIS IMAGE AND SOMEHOW --MAYBE--IMPROVED IT!! IS IT AN IMPROVEMENT? DID CTRL L AND MOVED THE DROPPER AROUND. WHAT DO YOU THINK? #2773149Amy JACKSON May 16, 2006
YES!!! I liked the other one but I really like it a bit darker now! Great work, John!!! #2773272Carol Teal May 16, 2006
Hi John, I do like the darker photo, especially with the darker building, but on my PC, it is harder to see that it is a clock because the other numbers are too dark and the one in the middle has the hand touching it so I can't really make out that it is a number. Of course, I didn't know it was a clock to begin with...wasn't very observant! I don't know if it would be difficult to leave that lighter but the building darker...I don't know though because it does look great. #2773585Ahab Abdel-Aziz May 17, 2006
John,the original sits
better in my eye
it has a gentler
tonal gradation
across the piece
the high contrast
effect you achieved
by adjusting the levels
(CRL L) looses a
bit more of the
sky to pure white
i also liked the screening
effect you got in the
lower contrast picture #2775903

I can add nothing that everyone else has not already said. Great image. As for searching for a given photographer, here is how I do it:
I google the photographer's name (in quotes to keep it together) and then place betterphoto in the field and do a search. It will come right up. Ex: "JOHN ROSCICH" betterphoto
You will see your gallery pop up in the search.

CAROL, AMY, AHAB AND DEE.THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT
I LIKE THE BUILDINGS BETTER IN THE SECOND SHOT BUT I LIKE THE CLOCK TO BE MORE VISABLE--LIKE THE ORIGINAL.
HAVE TRIED TO LIGHTEN THE CLOCK BUT AM NOT HAVING MUCH SUCCESS IN GETTING IT TO LOOK RIGHT.
DEE--THANKS FOR THE GOOGLE SUGGESTION.
I HAVE LEARNED A LOT ABOUT GETTING AROUND AND I LIKE THE NEW SET UP BETTER WHICH HAS THE OPTION OF GOING BACK TO YOUR OWN MEMBER PAGE ON THE TOP RIGHT.
THANK YOU AGAIN.
