Bob,Simplicity in your composition and two complementary subjects.
A really great photo. It never crossed my mind to photograph a snail before!

Bob,Crystal clear very nice photo. The spirals of the stems match the spiral of the Shell.
I was curious on how you got the black background? Did you use felt behind the subject? or Photoshop? I've been trying to replicate a black background and have been having trouble with it using Adobe Photodeluxe. The way I'm doing it is way too complicated I think.
Thanks in advance.

Bob, somehow your photos always escape my view until you win! Congrats on this. This is really wonderful. Nice work, as usual. #8602Rick G. Vincent June 11, 2002
A great photo. It must have been a tough decision to not give this shot the Grand Prize. You would have received my vote. The matching coil patterns of the snail and plant are perfect together. A very sharp image also, with fine details. #8623bob garas June 12, 2002

Congrats Bob this didn't surprise me as a winner at all. It was so unusual and so very pretty. Everyone had to love this right off! Congrats Cheryl #8720Janelle Barry May 03, 2002
This is brilliant, Bob! The pattern of the ferns replicated in the snail's shell, simplified against the black background . . . wonderful!! #14309Mary K. Robison March 07, 2004
Nine months on the site, and today is the first time I've seen this gem. You truly deserved first place for this, Bob!! #413053Maria Mosolova March 16, 2004

I was browsing through your gallery with my daughter and we just love your “Patterns of Nature”. What great work!Mike F. Anderson July 23, 2009
Doesn't look like you are on the BP site anymore since this photo was a winner in 2002. But if you happen to pop in from time to time, just wanted to let you know this is excellent photography. Not just a pretty picture, but a well thought out, well planned and well executed work of art. Congratulations on your 1st place. It is certainly deserving of it! #7776332Liz blahh October 19, 2009
Superb! Don't know how I missed this beauty! #8049848Carol Flisak February 03, 2010
