Love the effect through the screen Norman. Works well with the bright sunlight and strong shadows. Lovely scene. Heather #4386

Interesting view. I like the texture of light. For some reason, the preview and the full-size photo look different (is it effect of screen or my computer?). And the preview with these wavy shadows seems even more attractive. Can you see it? #6273

Hi Heather & Mark,
Thanks for your kind comments. I woke up Sunday morning, sat up in bed and looked out the window. Lo & behold a picture op!(smile)
The original was cropped and then edited in photoshop. I increased the shadows with levels and tweaked the colors with color mechanic.
The wavy effect in the thumbnail is interesting and also appears in my photo editors. It may have to do with the larger pic resolution.
Once again, thanks guys!

Norman, I can't wait to try this technique on something colorful like this. I haven't found a good background subject yet. I suppose I'll just have to take a screen off a window and tote it around with me in the car as I search out good subject matter...LOL. How close were you to the screen, the screen to the buildings, and how did you manage to get both in sharp focus? I'm guessing you used the right lens and DOF, but I was hoping you could describe your set-up so I can try it without too much trial and error. Thanks. #6682

Hey Paul & Debbie,

Thanks for the good word. I almost hate to tell ya, but what appears to be a person is a reflection or light object inside the apartment.

Encouragement from good guys like yourselves are what make this site
great!

Hi Piper,

When I sat up in bed & looked out of the window, there was the shot! It was about 9 am in the morning.

I setup a tripod about two feet from the screen. I used a telephoto lense, camera on /autofocus in aperture priority mode set at f11/ISO 125

I took several shots at different angles and of different buildings. I was aware of the screen while shooting but didnt know if it would spoil the shots. However, when I downloaded them to my laptop I was somewhat pleased.

I used Photoshop 5.5 for my editing, cropping here & there and then worked the colors up w/color mechanic.

The flat paint and even texture on the walls of the buildings, plus the time of day was perfect for shadows, sharp corners and lines. However the effect of the screen was a nice bonus.

Well I think that's about it, whew! (smile)
Thanks for cheering me on!

Hi Norman, Yes it is obvious that you used the tripod. Where is this, BTW? My first guess was NYC then I though that maybe they were Adobe houses but no, I can't figure it out. #6727

Norman lives in Brooklyn, Donna! You didn't do your homework....LOL. #6730

Hey Donna,

The scene is in Bay Ridge, Bklyn. From Owls head park on Shore road, I watched the entire WTC disaster, that's why I mentioned your WTC pics above all the other good ones on your site! (smile)

Thanks Norman! I thought it looked familiar. I had an aunt that lived there for years. Are you OK after seeing the disaster with your own eyes? That must have been very traumatic! I just looked at your member gallery and I am a click away from your other site. I love your style. You have some nice equipment and your patience is seen in your photography. It is so sharp and planned out. I think that soon you will be selling a lot of work. You are on your way to fame. Lots of Luck!! #6732

Hi again Norman, Wow, that site is a must see! I am very impressed. I have been following your work in the galleries but now I will be checking in on the real thing. Gotta get back to it! #6733

Hi Donna,

Thanks for all your encouraging remarks, but don't hesitate to give advise, as that's how I learn. (just don't be too mean)(SMILE)

I also appreciate you visiting my website, ThruMyIz.com. It's my baby & on going project.

I usually rode past the WTC on my way home from bike riding on 9W, always marveling at the size of the buildings. So when I saw it coming down, and the thought of all those people...well, let's just say my imagination was vivid!

Thanks again Donna, and I will be checking out your delux site regularly so keep up the good work!
