Donna this is wonderful! I would love to know what filters you used to create the effect. #1879Dwayne D. Dowdell November 20, 2001

Wonderful photo, Donna, with a real rustic feel. Love the colors! #2864Donna J. Eaton November 20, 2001
Thanks so much for the nice comments. I did this using MGI Photosuite. I started by using the antique filter, then cloning out some things in the foreground. I adjusted the brightness/contrast and cropped slightly. I then added the oil painting filter. It made me think of Thanksgivings long past. #2886Lisa Young November 21, 2001
Wonderful DA, Donna. #2898I am curious about the smoke from the kitchen chiminy in your photo. Did the Park Service have a fire going or did you render it yourself. I visit there several times a year and there has never been a fire going.
I would realy like to see some of your other photos of this site especialy around the barn. Good Work! #2968

Hi Winston, I'm glad you liked the photo. I love this area of NC and we visit there 2 or 3 times a year. This was taken in October of this year. They actually had two fires going. It was the first time I'd seen them have actual fires there. It really created a mood as to how it must have been long ago. I didn't know about the facts you listed. That is really interesting. I have some other shots that I'm working on from the area. I would like to see some of your photos. The fog sounds like it would make for some good shots! Thanks again for commenting. #2969peter paterson December 13, 2001
Absolutely stunning atmospheric image I especially like the painterly feel to the subject worthy winner #3862Shirley D. Cross-Taylor December 13, 2001

Simply stunning. This is why I bought a camera, hoping to be able to do this kind of thing. Never produced anything close to this. I'm so jealous. Keep up the good work. #4082Donna J. Eaton June 24, 2002
Hi and thank you Tom. It was taken with a Nikon 950 Cool Pix digital camera. #9052Mary-Ella Bowles March 01, 2004
Hi Donna! This popped up on the homepage when I logged on this morning. Not being a member back then, I had never seen it - bit I love it! Wonderful subtle colors, and a nostalgic feel to the image. Very nice....(Hey, I started out with a Nikon 950 too - it served me well as I started to learn all this new fangled digital stuff, lol...) #403050
