Giant tortoises are native to seven of the Galapagos Islands and are the largest living species of tortoise. They keep growing until they are 40 - 50 years old and can reach a weight of 500 lbs. They can grow to be 5 ft. tall and can live for more than 100 years. Lonesome George was about 100 at the time of his death!
