We rarely get intense sunsets in San Francisco, simply because we rarely get real clouds. This Sept 1 sunset was an exception, shown here over Russian Hill. I wonder if the smoke from the Yosemite Rim Fire had any effect on cloud formation.

Beautiful capture, Martha. Wasn't that a wonderful sunset... I was in Santa Cruz and remember this because my spare batteries weren't in my camera bag...
