Pencil Tree
Uploaded: November 16, 2010 08:36:39
Not many people are aware that in China, pencils grow on trees. I caught them right at their budding stage. This is a brown pencil tree. Maybe tomorrow I'll visit the red pencil trees. I've heard that there are some very rare pencil trees that have all colors, but I think they only grow in the Emperor's garden. 10/16/10, Donghu Park, Jiangmen, Guangdong, China. Canon 100-400mm L lens.

Thanks for the kind comments! But I'm having a hard time putting aside my disappointment at which of my Editor's Picks they choose. I usually don't let it get to me, but I had at least four others this month that I would have chosen WAY over this one. I mean, this one is okay, light is good, DOF pretty good, but there's no real magic to it--it has NO possibility of going further. Whereas I felt some of my others had some real artistic appeal. Anyway...whatever.... #9100236Nancyj E. Hovey December 13, 2010
