~I happened to be at my nephews house to take pictures of him in his fireman uniform. His pager went off as we were walking out the door and he said...jump in the car and fasten your seat belt. Since it is a small rural volunteer fire department we were the first on the scene to find a home engulfed in flames and the family of 5 little kids and their parents standing and watching as it went up in flames. I stood by the family and wept with the little kids as their home was a total loss. But as I stood there one thing I saw over and over in these brave men that were fighting this fire and putting their own lives on the line, is the brotherhood that takes place between them as they protect each other from harm's way.~

Wonderful photo, Becky, though the story trumps it. They are a special breed, for sure. #1433216Jack Gaskin December 30, 2011

Hi Neighbor. Outstanding story telling capture, Becky. So sad about the family losing their home. Can't imagine how that would be. #9892806Carolyn M. Fletcher December 30, 2011
Fire is a scary thing, but at least the family was ok..the volunteer firemen don't get enough credit. They've saved us more than once. #9892815Ken Smith December 30, 2011
What a story...a great picture but a little sad considering the circumstances. You're certainly right about firefighers....and police officers, our military, etc. that put their lives on the line every day. Super work, Becky! #9892924John Rivera December 30, 2011
Great capture with fine detail and color.Michael G. Marshall December 30, 2011

That is soooo sad! And straight after Christmas too. It's a fabulous capture of the bond between the men, Becky, and of them doing their job. There's a real lot to being a fireman! #9893726Nadia Paul December 30, 2011
