Hi Chris...subtractive lighting is something I learned in Vik Orenstein's class on Portrait Lighting. If you put black which absorbs light on either side of subject it creates side shadows and a lighted alley down center of image. Very moody lighting and fun.Dennis Gay June 13, 2010
G'day *SHARON*!A most worthy photograph to receive its EP, Finalist and 2nd Place awards.
The eye contact and rapport with you and the camera is perfect and the pose and expression truly depict the mood and emotion of your title.
The lighting is most effective and I reaaly like the restricted contrast and the limited tonal range.
The image is as crisp as a chip and combined with the good depth of field, renders very clear detail.
Powerful imagery!
