Hi Amy, cool picture, I really lke the contrast. Its not often I see anyone else with my maiden name. You know, its not like its Jones or Smith. Is this a self portrait or someone else? #114375Amy L. Sowell April 05, 2004

I saw the last name in a phonebook one time, but they were not related to us. I have family members that live up north. They are on my dad's side and he is one of five kids. As far as I know, the brothers are up north and a sister is somewhere west (Cali. or Nevada) My dad is in FL. Wouldn't it be funny if we were actually related and came across each other on here? I'll have to let my dad know about this he'll find it interesting.Liza #465070

Well I'm originally from NJ and thats where my family lives too. I know there are a few in Georgia b/c I went to a family reunion maybe like 6 years ago there. My granfather lives in Georgia, he is the only one that I persoanlly know that lives in Georgia. That would be such a coinsidence of us being acatully realted and getting intouch this way. #465107Liza M. Franco April 07, 2004
This is pretty cool. When you get a chance, let me know if you have anyone in your family named Jimmy, Eddie, Paul, Agnes, or LeeRoy. I'll talk to my dad and see if I can find out any other names. Agnes and LeeRoy are different names so I figure there can't be too many Sowells with those names. My e-mail address is lperfico@yahoo.comAmy L. Sowell April 07, 2004
No. sorry I havent heard of those names before. Where are you from anyways, maybe that can narrow it down a little more... This is intresting and fun, kinda gets you thinking. I'll have to ask my dad more about other relatives and see if he knows those names. #467960Liza M. Franco April 07, 2004
NY, then FL, now NC. My Dad and his family were from NY originally. You know, there are a lot of Sowells out there. I did a search today and actually found something for my Aunt Agnes. Last time I was in touch with her I was a kid. She and my dad had some falling out and out of respect for my dad I didn't keep in touch with her. As an adult now, I might try to get in touch with her. I e-mailed my dad and I'm waiting to hear from him. I know that one of my uncles is in Granby MA. He's the one my dad is closest to. Keep in touch, I'm enjoying this. #468418Amy L. Sowell April 07, 2004
I never knew any Sowells were in NY. I while back I looked up the last name on an Ellis Island site and found out theres people from Russia and England. I still havent talked to my dad, I think he still might be in GA at my grandfathers... Write back with what your father has to say... #468513Liza M. Franco April 08, 2004
Wow, Russia and England. I never had any idea about the origin of the last name. As I said, my dad never mentioned his dad or anyone on that side of the family. That's interesting. I haven't heard back from my dad yet. I don't know how often he checks his e-meil. His generation is as reliant on the internet as ours is. Maybe I shouldn't say reliant, but addicted. What kind of pictures do you like to take? #469294Amy L. Sowell April 08, 2004
yea we are kinda addicted to the interent, but not all in a bad way. I still havent gotten in touch with my dad either, I dont know where he is...Just a question, how do u say Sowell anyways, I say it, like towel just switch the T with an S I also say it SO-WOOL to it just depends on how I wanna say it. #470022Liza M. I said my dad's generation "is" and I meant "isn't". I figured you figured out what I meant. I hadn't even thought about asking you about how you pronounced it. We've always said it with the o making a long o sound. Living in NC I find that a lot of people think I say Sewell which is a big name around here and they say the first half like the beginning of sewer. I just had a funny thought. Could you imagine if anybody else decided to read these discussions.Have you thought about getting a member's gallery on here? The deluxed ones are pretty nice, it would be awesome to win one, but I don't think I'd buy one. The member ones are pretty cheap so I might do that eventually. I'm really bad about getting around to doing things. I try to tell everyone, I don't procrastinate, I just run out of time. Story of my life. #470946

If anyone else were reading these, I dont know what they would be thinking, but it would probabaly be funny. I have another website where I put up most of my pictures. If you want to see it its http://community.webshots.com/user/rosevixenLiza M. Franco April 16, 2004
I talked to my dad and it was a really weird coincidence, but he and his brother didn't know much about their dad and had already started their own little family search before you and I started writing. He said that his father's dad was Edward Sowell from Alabama and his father's Mom was Pearl (can't remember her maiden name) from Florida. I should have written this down. I might have the states backwards. So evidentally I had relatives from the south. I thought I was the only Southerner in the family. Let me know if you find out anything interesting from your dad. #487848zcaley May 13, 2004
