Hi Janet~! I appreciate your kind comments...thank you! #6137933Lisa J. Boulden July 06, 2008
I find this really beautiful; somewhat soothing. I love the beautiful glow-y green dof against the crisp, golden grasses. To me, the graceful curves of the grass make this image a real stand-out.Cary Rogers July 06, 2008
Thank you so much, Lisa! It's nice to hear when someone "connects" with the same thing I "saw" and tried to capture. There was a bunch of dried wild grass stalks on the hillside, but this grouping really caught my eye, because of those distinct curly tops. I also have an "abstract" version that "I" really like (Backlit Wild Grass), but the thumbnail size doesn't do the details "justice." ;-)Thanks again! #6146069

G'day Cary,It takes a good eye to pick out a little scene like this from all that is around you and you have chosen a good one here.
I like the sinuous lines and feathery detail of the grass and the stepped up structure of the stems.
I am very happy to note there are no intrusions nor amputations and that there is a nice space around the subject.
The lighting and exposure is very good, focus is nice and sharp, the depth of field has created a very nice bokeh, contrast is pleasing and the colours beautifully natural.
Good work that man and a most worthy finalist.
