Jason -I actually lead photo tours in southeast Alaska, annually, and this was one of the special adventures of a particular trip. It was terrific to see and to capture on film! Thanks for your comments. #254517

Gorgeous photo!! It always amazes me to see them flip so high above water! #348840Brenda Tharp January 29, 2004
Thanks, Jessica - it is truly amazing that they can hurl their full bodies out of the water. I never grow tire of seeing this! #352308Brenda Tharp November 22, 2005

hi Brenda ,congratulation on your pic ,its really gr8..and I know myself how hard it is to photograph wales and dolphins inside a boat!!Brenda Tharp May 30, 2006
I used a 300mm f4 lens, actually. A fixed 300mm, but now I have a 100-400mm zoom that I'd probably use instead, more flexible for when the whales pop up unexpectedly close or far from the boat! #2833623Emanuel R.L Marcos September 26, 2006
tnx so much for answering my doubt Brenda. Wish u all the best.Brenda Tharp October 02, 2006
Thanks, Katrina and all, the picture remains one of my favorites for the EXPERIENCE as much as the photo that resulted from it. Being around such creatures in nature is awesome. #3399383Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
