Another nice one Gary. You live in a beautiful place. I might have cropped it just a little more on the right hand side so the mountain wasn't quite so centered--need to leave in the pretty patch of sunny sky though. #11320Gary H. Minish May 26, 2019
Good point Carol! Here's another version cropped as close as possible to the rule of thirds that I keep hearing about. I couldn't move it too much vertically though, without losing the sky or the perspective. Tell me what you think. #18804Carol Engstrom May 26, 2019
Well--now you find out how great my advice is--I'm not sure. I did notice that the mountain was right in the middle on the first one, but you loose some of the sense of sweeping expanse on the second one when you shorten that long bank of clouds. Sometimes "the rules" need to be broken. Maybe this is one of those cases. What do you think? You need the advice of someone who really knows what they are doing on this one! #18848Gary H. Actually, it was very good advice Carol, it's just that I should have followed it when I took the photo instead of afterwards! Then I could have had the position right and still had the wider expanse. I apparently must have accidently entered the cropped version when I uploaded it because I got some very favorable comments on it! That means it was good advice even after the fact! Thank you for your help! #18877Cynthia L. Cook May 26, 2019
Great shot Gary,I like the first version. I agree with Carol when saying sometimes the rules need to be broken. #24835
