One of my photography friends had a news assignment on Thursday night to shoot pierogies (??) at a bar in a Polish neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia that is having "Pierogi Week" starting next Monday. So I tagged along to help out.
------
After the plate of delicacies was well photographed (and consumed by us), we started up a conversation with two young men that were practicing shooting darts. Turned out that they were both members of a Dart League (who knew?) and for the next hour we learned about some of the vast intricacies of the game.
----
It was very dark and I fiddled endlessly with my flash and camera settings before I was able to capture the blur of a dart in flight.

Probably a pint of beer would have helped it along!Cheers for pierogi week! We have a Ukrainian Street Festival in Toronto that is the largest in North America! I can't imagine how many pierogies get consumed. #9988649

That was no easy feat, Michelle! Like the lighting, tones, mood & of course "the flying dart"! Great story too! WTG, indeed! #9989126Ann Coates February 18, 2012
I think with the darts there is always the beer as well. Darts can get highly competitive too. Cool capture with the action of the flying dart and you obviously had a lot of patience. #9989137Neal D. Hatcher February 18, 2012

Good Job Michelle! :D And that sounded like a fun time, too!!!This reminds me so much of a date I went on when I was about 18. A fellow from a popular local Bay Area band asked me out. He was poor as a church mouse and he took me to play darts at a BAR in BERKELEY! Lol...We had fun and he was a real gentleman. He was the best sax player I've ever heard and his instructor/teacher was in the band, "Earth Wind and Fire"! :) !!!

Love your "dart" stories and captures, Michelle! This was my favorite - great action capture in a very challenging situation. And where are the pierogies? We used to eat them regularly when we visited my mother-in-law in Chicago. #9993282Steve D. Hinkle February 21, 2012
Great mood and light and perspective! I really liked the story, with it. #9993873Emile Abbott February 21, 2012
