Kingfisher with fish
Have been prepairing my Kingfisher walls again and hoping for a new nesting season. It is difficult after 3 harsh winters as numbers have dropped from 1200 pairs to around 150-200 pairs in our country.

Still having seen a Kingfisher in my own village recently and having heard several over at my old nesting sites I have good hopes for this Spring/Summer.

Dear Michelle,

Thanks for your reply on my Kingfisher image.
Kingfishers nest in a "wall" of sand and to help them with nesting in The Netherlands some voluenteers build nesting walls for them so they have places to build their nests.

Lunch is always a great bonus w/them...

Looking forward to trying to get a fishing capture of one this year... VERY DIFFICULT ON LONG ISLAND as they are pretty skittish....
